The Red Stone Forest Park is a small sized geological park, located in Guzhang county of Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture. It’s in the middle way between Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang ancient town, nearby Furong town.
The view is from ordovician period about 500 million years ago, at that time it was ocean here. Due to the movement of earthcrust, the ocean bottom had been upraised, and by a long time erosion, water flush, wind cutting etc, finally formed such kind of strange red stone views.
The color are changeable depends on different seasons, weather, for example when sunshine covers the stone, it looks like red color. And it becomes brown or sort of black in winter or rainfall season.
There are also different shape or formation, like streams, canyons and water weaving and lakes here.
