Sitting Dragon Gorge or called ZuoLongXia,  is located in Guzhang County nearby Hongshilin town and Furong town. The air is fresh and cool in summer. It has the reputation of “natural air conditioning” in Western Hunan.

Sitting Dragon Gorge has a total length of 6500 meters, and the maximum height difference is more than 300 meters. It is formed by 3 million years of crustal changes and wind erosion and water flow. the most important feature is the terrible plank road between the stone walls. No matter the narrow road made of wood or the steps on the side of the cliff, they are all suspended. 

Sitting dragon Gorge Scenic Spot is a beautiful, hidden, secluded, spacious, strange, dangerous, ancient and clumsy one, with the reputation of “the first strange gorge in central and southern China”.

There are legends about the origin of sitting dragon gorge. It is said that a green dragon and a white dragon occupy duanlongshan, making the Tujia people have good weather and abundant grain. The emperor worried that Erlong would be supported by the people and change the dynasty, and his throne would not be protected, so people nailed Erlong. The green dragon was nailed, while the white dragon ran all the way. In a hurry, he went into a deep and precipitous gorge, hence the name of sitting dragon gorge.

On the other hand, every time there is a sudden drop of rain in the valley, the valley will sing and the river will respond as if the dragon is singing faintly; when the sun is shining, the rainbow shadow will diffuse in the sky, and it will become a wandering dragon, which is so famous that it is called “sitting dragon gorge”.
